The untold love story of clients and freelancers
Let's celebrate collaboration between freelancers and clients this May.
As a freelancer and freelance advocate, I spend a lot of time talking about communication between freelancers and clients. There is a gap we sometimes all fall into. We set out to work on a project, excited about what we can create. And then BOOM! Something happens. There’s a shift that creates a space where the project should be. The potential for something extraordinary is lost. And some projects or working relationships are never quite the same again.
To bridge this gap, I have worked with Creative Director Jessica Harkins and Oliver Garside from Rounded, a startup in the accounting space. Together, we developed the “Hug a Freelancer” campaign, which has grown into a month-long celebration and investigation of the magic between clients and freelancers.
You benefit because of that!
For clients, we’ve built-
· A free toolkit to help organisations manage freelancers effectively.
· A dedicated blog section to help you learn the art of working with freelancers.
· Case studies from businesses that work well with freelance talent.
· A FREE event with your peers to help inspire you to work efficiently with freelancers.
· A clear path to freelance talent to hire them with minimal barriers.
· The opportunity to receive a FREE consultation from me on how you can improve communication between you and your freelance or contract talent.
For freelancers, we’ve built:
· A toolkit for self-advocacy and client management.
· Articles to help manage the client side of the relationship.
· Events to raise the knowledge bar in client management situations.
· Art to help normalise the asking of respect in the industry and to promote accountability.
· A survey to measure the obstacles and difficulties freelancers experience to qualify what we need to kick serious client management butt.
Freelancing is the future. And it’s a bright one.
So, let’s get prepared for it together by speaking the same language and sharing our expectations.
Want to get on board and start working effectively and efficiently with freelancers?
Come along to this free event, Collaboration and Communication: Mastering the Art of Building Successful Relationships between Clients and Freelancers, with Oliver Garside from Rounded, Carolyn Stebbing from Little Village Creative, and Craig Watson from Ta Pod, (and myself as MC), and let’s create a collaborative future between the freelance sector and business.
I’d love to see you there.
